Author and artist visits during the year engage our students and help create well rounded students!

HSA volunteers are crucial in our continuing effort to provide enriching, fun, and educational resources and events to our Somerville students, teachers, and staff. We have volunteer opportunities like art class aides, library aides, class parents, class picture helpers, book fair committee, International Night, Bingo night, and many more.
We also find volunteer needs arise throughout the school year and will often ask for volunteers through E-News and this website. If you are interested in volunteering, please be sure to sign up in May or email the HSA
The Somerville HSA is an organization of parents, teachers, and administrators at Somerville Elementary that work together to help to support the children, teachers, staff, and administration. The HSA works to bring enrichment programs like assemblies to the school, to provide needed supplies and classroom enhancements, and to help nurture community spirit. The HSA also helps plan many fun activities and events at Somerville including Lip Sync, Bingo Night, and International Night.
The Somerville HSA membership dues are $40 per family per school year. These dues help support and fund the HSA sponsored events and activities at the school and help provide needed supplies and classroom enhancement for the teachers and students. Those who have paid the membership dues will have access to the school directory via the app GroupSpot once it is available. Please be sure to join the HSA to support our school!
HSA meetings occur once a month during the school year. Please see the calendar for our next meeting. All parents are welcome to join in the HSA meetings to hear about upcoming HSA events and fundraisers, and receive updates on school happenings from Dr. Oates.
There are many ways to be involved at Somerville! Make sure to pay the annual membership dues to help support the events and activities the HSA sponsors. Join the monthly HSA meetings to learn about school happenings. Volunteer to either chair or be a part of one of our many committees (like Teacher Appreciation Committee, International Night, Directory, Auction). Also, look for volunteer activities that may come up throughout the school year. You can also volunteer to serve on the HSA Board (nominations usually occur in February/March for the following school year).
We have many ways to stay up-to-date on Somerville events and happenings. Check your weekly E-news (every Tuesday) for information from Dr. Oates and the HSA.
